MAMM is an open group of Toronto Moms who wish to share their stories, secrets, hopes and fears for an upcoming play at the 2014 Toronto Fringe Festival.

Janet Kish (Director)

Janet’s excited to be one of the co-creators for Sussex Muse’s first production. She has an extensive background in theatre having worked as a drama educator and administrator for the Toronto District School Board for over thirty years. After retiring in 2012 from her position as Program Leader at the renowned Claude Watson Arts Program, Janet has worked freelance as a director, actor, adjudicator, and workshop leader as well as a private acting and audition coach. Recent directing roles include Elsa and Marigold, Pieces of Penelope (New Ideas Festival), and The Dreamcatchers (Edinburgh Festival Fringe). Janet also performed in the critically acclaimed immersive trilogy of ZED.TO featured at the 2012 Toronto Fringe, Nuit Blanche and Evergreen Brickworks. Janet is a proud member of Theatre Ontario’s Talent Bank, the Neighborhood Arts Network, the Directors Lab North and the Director’s Lab Chicago. Jodi Miller (Playwright)

Jodi received her M.A. in Writing For Performance from Goldmiths, University of London, London, UK. Her Play, Playing, performed at Edinburgh Fringe Festival and was nominated for a Fringe First award. Playing received 4 stars from The Scotsman:  “This smart and funny play seems to by-pass the usual self-congratulatory attitude about how daring it all is (sex) and actually has something worth saying.”  Playing then transferred to Arundel Fringe Festival.  Miller’s one man show entitled Vladeck  has been produced in Toronto, London and Australia. Vladeck was performed in front of a live studio audience at Much Music. Jodi  has also  received Canada Council grants, Toronto Arts Council grants, Theatre Creators’ reserve grants and has won best dramatic monologue  (honorable mention) from Grain magazine. Jodi has been involved with numerous collective productions as a participant, writer and director  Highlights include: Six Nations of the Grand River Reserve, Windsor Feminist Theatre, Leah Poslins Theatre and the Toronto District School Board.

Jodi has two young daughters who have inspired this production.
